Welcome to Sun & Sand Resort! Formerly Sun ‘N Sand Motel, we are going through extensive renovations, updates and rebranding. We are expected to reopen May 2025 and are thrilled to start hosting guests again. There will be quite a few changes coming but we will keep all guests updated as they come. Our calendars are open for booking starting Friday, May 16. Upon making your reservation, you will be asked to pay your reservation in full and will receive a confirmation email after completing your booking. Further communication regarding your booking will be provided leading up to your reservation date.
We understand this process is different from prior operations. Please note our cancellation policy is a full refund up until 2 days prior to your stay.
Policies
- Thank you for your reservation. We look forward to your stay at Sun & Sand Resort of Port Austin, MI.
- Pet policy: We are a pet friendly hotel! You must add on your pets when making your reservation. A $50 per pet, per reservation fee applies to each reservation.
- Pet rules: All pets MUST be kept on a leash and cleaned up after. Please be respectful of other animals/guests. Please keep your pets off of the furniture. An additional $25 cleaning fee will apply if there is evidence of pets on furniture. Please do not leave pets unattended so as to not disrupt other guests.
- Wifi Internet access: Our complimentary Wifi Internet can be accessed by selecting the guest network.
- Cleaning: We do not provide cleaning throughout your stay. For stays longer than 3 nights, a refresh can be arranged for an additional fee of $15. Extra towels can be provided for no extra fee upon request.
- Maximum room occupancy: Please note the maximum occupancy per standard room and kitchenette rooms is 4. The apartment has a maximum occupancy of 8. The house has a maximum occupancy of 10. All reservations must be in compliance. Reservations that have more people staying in a room than the maximum occupancy allowed may be asked to leave without refund.
- Cancellation policy: We offer free cancellation up to 48 hours prior to the arrival date (by midnight). Cancellations made within 48 hours of the arrival date will be charged the full cost of the stay.
- Parking: Parking is free during your stay.
- Check-in begins at 4:00pm. We do not allow early check-ins. We are a self check-in facility. You will be provided with an individual access code prior to your arrival.
- Check-out by 10:00am
- Credit card charge policies: By making this reservation, you confirm that the provided credit card details are valid, and that Sun & Sand Resort may charge the provided credit card at any time prior to arrival. By submitting your credit card information, your room is being guaranteed. The guest on the reservation must be one of the guests staying during the reservation.
- Smoking Policy: There is NO SMOKING in the rooms. This includes cigarettes, marijuana, vaping/vapes and any other devices. If you are found in violation of this policy, you will incur a charge of $500.
- Quiet hours: For the comfort of all of our guests, please observe the quiet hours between 9:00pm and 8:00am.
- Loss Liability: Sun & Sand Resort does not assume responsibility for loss of money, jewelry, devices or any other valuables. We are not responsible for contents left in guest rooms or guest vehicles.
- Bicycles: We Do Not allow bicycles to be stored in the rooms
- Room damages and theft: We may charge your card post-departure for any damage to the room or for theft of any room items.
- Check-in age: Guests checking in must be at least 18 years of age. Sun & Sand Resort reserves the right to verify the guest's age by their driver's license, state ID card, national ID card, passport, or similar ID.
- Privacy policy: We handle with utmost care all guest information, including credit card details and email addresses, provided to us either directly by the guest or by third-party booking services. See Privacy & Cookies on our website for more information.
- Right to refuse service: Sun & Sand Resort reserves the right to refuse service to anyone deemed not in compliance with these terms of service.
SMS Policies
The information (Phone Numbers) obtained as part of the SMS consent process will not be shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
Types of SMS Communications:
If you have consented to receive text messages from Sun & Sand Resort, you may receive messages related to the following:
- Reservation reminders
- Check-in and Check-out instructions
- Billing inquiries
- Promotions or offers (if applicable)
Example: "Hello, thank you for booking your stay with Sun & Sand Resort. Your check-in instructions and additional stay information will be sent to your email the afternoon of your arrival. Should you need anything prior to then, please don't hesitate to reach out. Reply STOP to opt out of SMS messaging at any time."
Message Frequency:
Message frequency may vary depending on the type of communication. For example, you may receive up to 4 SMS messages per week related to your reservation.
Potential Fees for SMS Messaging:
Please note that standard message and data rates may apply, depending on your carrier’s pricing plan. These fees may vary if the message is sent domestically or internationally.
Opt-In Method:
You may opt-in to receive SMS messages from The Inn at Shady Pines in the following ways:
- Verbally, during a conversation
- By clicking the box when booking
Opt-Out Method:
You can opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time. To do so, you can contact us directly to request removal from our messaging list.
Additional Options:
- If you do not wish to receive SMS messages, you can choose not to check the SMS consent box on our forms.
